What can RTC do for you?
We are pleased to announce that Pleckgate High school will be Blackburn’s first Apple Regional Training Centre. The Apple regional training centre provides free courses for interested parties beyond our school. We aim to share good practice that will show you how technology can enhance learning and teaching, not hinder it.
The RTC programme builds on the experience and achievements of many teachers, children and community members already using Apple technology within an educational framework. Our RTC has used Apple Distinguished Educators to provide the added value of a practising teacher with real-world experience of integrating Apple technology into the curriculum. We even have our very own Apple Distinguished Educator who works at the school.
Apple technology is famously easy to use, and beginners can learn quickly and intuitively. With Apple, the technology never gets in the way of the creative process and Apple’s reputation in education is synonymous with creativity. Apple’s creative tools can help children learn more effectively and explore how technology can break down barriers between different ability groups and between the classroom and the outside world. This is a world wide programme that covers Europe, Russia, Middle East and Africa, offering schools the opportunity to attend a course relevant to their curriculum interests and needs.
This allows the school to build on the experience and achievements of the many teachers who have been successfully using technology to enhance learning and teaching. The training is free and focuses on curriculum-enhancing opportunities using iLife, the multimedia software that come with every new Mac and features Apple’s award-winnning iMovie, iPhoto, iDVD and GarageBand, as well as providing unique opportunities to show you how iPad can be integrated into your curriculum.
